1 Corinthians 2:14: The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. |

Well in that case, why not do us all a favor and stop posting. Those who are saved don't need it. And those who aren't are incapable of understanding your "saved" logic anyway. What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? - James 2:14

I'm reposting this from the other thread, as the same discussion is happening here:
The BoM does not contradict the Bible, as long as the Bible is understood correctly. Moroni 10:32 "Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny youselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God." When Christ came to earth, the Jews were practicing a corrupted form of the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses was a preparatory law to prepare the people for the higher law of Christ. It involved many physical rites or actions, which eventually came to be the ONLY requirements. The people were relying on those works to show their goodness before men. They were living the letter of the law, but not the spirit of the law. Remember how bent out of shape the Pharisees were when Christ healed the sick on the Sabbath? They were overly concerned with the rules, but deadened to the true spirit of God. Christ said he did not come to destroy the Law of Moses, but to fulfill it. And he taught them that the works alone will not save them. They must have humble spirits, faith, love, in addition to the necessary "works", including the ordinances, such as baptism. IOW, there is a balance between works and grace. We don't throw out either one in deference to the other. Just as it was wrong for the ancient Jews to ignore grace, it is wrong to go to the other extreem and ignore works. Both are important, just as it plainly says in James. It's really not complicated. |

Nah, I think it's a copy cat of several religious works. specially the ideas of other religious groups at the time like the Quackers and Shakers (spelling?) who were around 30 miles of Joseph Smith's farm. that's where the ideas of alcohol banned, celibacy, etc come from. he took symbols from freemasonry, the kabahala, etc.

Fish... all I mean is that maybe you should: Let's please stick to this one topic: The Gospel of God according to the Holy Bible.
... instead of attacking anyone who does not worship the "god" you have trapped between your ears.

The same can be said for the authors of the Bible. Now, does "could have" mean "did"? I do not think so. But perhaps you do? The fact is that the Bible has nothing new in it other than names. EVERYthing in the Bible has already been done in a religion long before the texts the Bible is based upon are were even written. Does this mean the Bible is not true? Not at all. It merely reiterates the saying: "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it"
