Oy vey....it's not rocket science.... the Councils REJECT sola scriptura... how can you have faith in anything they proclaim?

The Roman Catholic Council of Trent is not authoritative over the Holy Scriptures. That is the basis of the Protestant Reformation...Scripture over declared religious leaders of Rome. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe together with historical Protestants that the Roman Catholic Church is apostate. The Protestants come to this conclusion through the Scriptures as final authority from God. You are arguing that Sola Scriptura is heretical because the Roman Catholic Magestrium (men) tell you so through a concept called apostolic succession. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints make the same claim. They are saying that Sola Scriptura is not true because the modern day prophets (men) tell you so through a concept called prophet succession. Well, the Holy Bible is either the Word of God or not. God cannot contradict Himself. Do you follow sound doctrine revealed in the Scriptures alone, or do you follow the doctrines of men? These are the same issues which caused the Protestant Reformation 500 years ago. Please study the issues before we continue. I expect you to debate within Orthodox Roman Catholicism, because that is your faith. You have no freedom to believe contrary to official Roman Catholic dogma (sacred oral and written tradition).

That's the problem.... you can't just follow the Scriptures alone... because not everyone agrees what the Scriptures reveal.... the purpose of the Councils was to settle these differences with Authority.

You continue to refer to the Trinity and try to hold the LDS to the Canons of a Council that apparently YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN.... I'm not a Doctor, but I know the signs of MPD.... you've gotta choose which world you're gonna play in.

I think we are going nowhere. You are welcome to join me at studylightforums.org on an all Christian forum site. There are a few Roman Catholics and an Eastrern Orthodox Christian who post regularly on that site. The majority there hold to sola scriptura. I think that is a better site for us to discuss and debate. I hope you take me up on that offer. This religious forum site is too diverse in beliefs to debate our historical issues.
