Are the natural catastrophyes happening around the world just typical, or are they increasing at an unprecedented rate ,....indicating it is the signs of the coming of the Son of Man, as Jesus perdicted.
Luk 21:25 — And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Mat 24:7And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all [these things] must come to pass, but the end is not yet.For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

Is there panic across the globe , if not it's because it has'nt hit close to our own home.

Hurricanes and tornado's have doubled in America in just 2 yrs to 800.

Are we on the edge of the coming of the Son of God who is coming to jusge the earth.

This "intelligent destruction theory" seems to imply that God is punishing people geographically rather than individually. Are you suggesting that, for example, the school children killed in the recent earthquake in China were being used as prophesy signs for others?

nothing has really changed has it , the earths weather fluctuates all the time , the earth heaves and volcanoes erupt, it depends where man decides to encamp himself ,in a river delta, or on the side of a volcano then wonder why a catastrophe happens

God is not punishing people geographically. These natural disasters are just random acts of nature.
No one person or group is being used for "prophecy signs". These are just things that was predicted, that would grow worse as the time nears for the Lord's return. There has been a change in the weather patterns in the last several years.

It would be interesting if human activity is responsible for increasing violent weather or earthquakes. And, with increased population, natural calamities have a higher death toll. Political strife and oppression can keep aid from reaching people suffering from the aftermath, and the gap between rich and poor means that some people will be much more likely to die for lack of resources.

Lots of calamity is clearly due to humans...war, extemes in poverty, starvation, devestation of natural habitat and wildlife.

We are punished by our sins...and as Job and Ecclisiastes, and at least some of the Prophets pointed out... sadly often others are punished for our sins.

Haven't people always declared that the end times were nigh? Haven't they always bemoaned the fact that everything was going to pot?

Lunamoth makes some good points, and I might add that increasing atmospheric CO2 levels are not helping matters, either.
If we trap more energy in a system we can expect the system to generate more energetic weather events.
