Most threads do start with only "God" though, mostly the thread itself converts it to the chistian one.

FLuffy, you have misunderstood me, they can call it god, but they need to understand, as well as any other religion, god is a universal name for...well... god. There needs to be something in place to know what religion we are debating here.

I think you mean too restrictively rather than loosely, you're saying that people say God and assume that everybody reading is aware they are using the word as a synonym for "Christian God", right?

I think the OP generally tells you which version of God they mean. I don't think they need to specify, considering you can get the idea from the context. For instance, when someone asks "Why does God hate homosexuals?", it's obviously limitted to a version of God which has a history of not liking homosexuals.
