Sure they can. Whatever method that reaches people can be used. But there is always going to be people against it-- I have found people judge what they don't like, even if there is nothing wrong with it.

Lol, are you kidding? Most Abrahamic religions consider Rock music a negative influence on kids, leading them into sin etc. Especially Roman Catholicism. The Pope loves bashing rock n' roll.

I like some rap music too. Every God-fearing religionist gives that a bad rap (pun!) too.

Eastern religions, espec. Hinduism and Buddhism, tend to be either indifferent, tolerant or even welcoming of popular music, rock/rap/dance etc. They're more art-friendly, I guess.
