There is no compelling evidence to suggest that any attributed divine entity is necessary to explain nature. None. I do not require "disproof" of claimed elves, fairies, or angels, to conclude--beyond reasonable doubt--that they do not veritably exist within this quite mortal and natural realm. I have (however) offered what would constitute an unequivocal "proof" of an existent God (to my own satisfaction)...within the thread entitled, "How to Prove God to an Atheist (no really)".

I say that, should we believe in the Old Testament, God saw fit to reveal himself to numerous people, both as one-to-one contact, and en-masse. Why were they far more suitable to be revealed to God than I?
I do agree that your idea of God proving himself would be pretty impressive, unreplicable by aliens unless they were as powerful as God themselves, and would send an undebatable message as to his existence or not. Your idea of rearranging stars sounds far more persuasive than deformed potato chips and tortillas showing prophet's faces.

At this time, God (or gods and goddesses) can neither be proven nor disproven, and maybe that is always how it will be.
I don't know of any gods to believe in, so I don't acknowledge one, nor do I say that there is not one. However, I am certain that the gods in mythology -- whether its Zeus or Jehovah or whatever -- are not real, just as I don't believe in fairies, elves, centaurs, or Santa Clause. James |

What makes you certain that Zeus is not real but the Christian God may be?

That statement makes absolutely no sense. Get back on this side of the Looking Glass.

The God that a person worships. It does not matter which God, whether it is Zeus or Thor or the Christian God.

Perhaps this will help you: Faith is a device of self-delusion, a slight of hand done with words and emotions founded on any irrational notion that can be dreamed up.
