Why would it bother you if someone prayed for you? (mission, atheist)

I find it amusing at times. But I know they mean well.

As a side note, I do often wonder if people would be offended if I prayed for them. I always ask permission first. So far, I haven't been rejected, but being Luciferian, I always consider whether people would want a prayer to Lucifer said for them.

Well, if I found out you were sick I'd pray for your health. I've prayed for people trying to conceive before. Just the basic stuff. I'd never pray that you find the light of Lucifer or anything because that would just make me a hypocrite.

I've never got this myself, especially in the case of atheists. I mean, if you don't believe in God, prayers are a waste of the *other* person's time, but how could they affect you, so why would that be upsetting?

And why would, say, a Christian care if a Hindu prays for them?

If you found out later that someone of a different belief system had been praying for you, but didn't ask your permission first, would you be upset, and why?

If you find this sort of things upsetting, please explain why...I've never quite been able to understand it.

I'm not so much "offended", as I might be generally amused.

Yet, I remain no more moved when someone may offer to "curse" my future activities/circumstances (for whatever reason).

I would but ask if a person of faith (based-beliefs) were confronted by an anonymous person who genuinely believed that their wishing (praying for) a "curse" to be lain upon/before you (by whom/whatever), if they would then assume no particular affront at the expressed sentiment tendered of their behalf.

Is any "prayer" truly absolved from any impending further consequence(s), if summarily "granted"?

If one "prays" that a particular loved one might be spared horrific death in armed conflict, might such an "answered" prayer inadvertently cause another person to suffer an unjust outcome as compensation for directed or beseeching divine interventions?

Maybe that bus load of pious nuns that inexplicably perish in an equally horrific and blazing descent towards an unforgiving rocky bottom at some otherwise random cliff side are the balanced result of an "answered" prayer of divine protection for someone you care about "more" than any faceless religious adherents of some differing sectarian faith/belief.

Who can say?

Maybe...it's just best to leave some things alone...and trust to divine ordination/providence instead...
