Why should I believe in any man's version of who God is?
What makes one man's opinion (or a group of men's opinions) more believable than others? And most importantly, why is a book thousands of years (the Christian bible) old still applicable today? Who says so? Why should I believe these ancient words? |

You shouldn't. Seriously; in my opinion, if you're believing in any other person's version of God, you're not doing it right.

You say so, for you, if it eventually makes sense to you. Well, we had a big long thread about whether belief is by choice, and a dozen different people answered and both 'belief' and 'choice' were defined in a dozen different ways, it seemed. My reply is that you will believe when it's true for you.

Believe what you want to believe in and the rest will fall into place. And if it doesn't, at least you know what you believe in.....

Because very little of what we know is "direct". We believe biologist, doctors, etc. on a daily basis. We believe that a man named George Washington existed. We believe our husband or wives aren't cheating on us. The list is endless...

It really doesent matter. All religions lead to god. So either way, you will have god in your life.

Not necessarily. Some religions do not believe in a Supreme Deity.
