Who Or What Is Satan? (priests, beliefs, experience, theist)

There is much misunderstanding and confusion in religion about exactly who or what satan really is.

The Hebrew word (satan) merely means an 'opponent', 'adversary', or 'enemy'. In a religious context, satan refers to an enemy of God. Now, what is the greatest enemy of God? What is it which turns people away from God? What is it which tempts us to follow evil? What is it which blinds us to Truth? The answer is: OUR OWN 'FIRST-BORN' LOWER / CARNAL / UNENLIGHTENED MIND! It is only this 'lower' mind (ego / persona) which brings forth pride, selfishness, hate, greed, envy, lust, etc. etc. The lower animals do not possess such a mind, and thus do not suffer these evils.

The meaning of the word Satan came after the being not before. Satan was an assistant to Lucifer and followed Lucifer in his rebellion. Another of Lucifer's assistant's was Beelzebub.

These rebels are now in confinement awaiting trial and judgement which should finish only 1,000 of our years from now.

Do not use Satan or Lucifer or Beelzebub as an excuse. They are nothing compared to you.

Take responsibility for all of your actions and inactions. Become a mature universal being.

There is no enemy of God. There is only knowledge and lack of knowledge. Such a thing as an enemy of God cannot exist because God created everything.

What you state here is merely what you have learned from books - No? Merely beliefs? Or have you experienced these things for yourself?

Isn't this what I was saying in my previous post - that satan IS OUR OWN 'LOWER' SELF - our own carnal mind - our ego / persona!

Now you seem to be contradicting what you started off saying, i.e. Satan was an assistant to Lucifer and Beelzebub who all rebelled against God. Now you say that there is not, nor can there exist, an enemy of God! You are very confusing.

Perhaps you could explain thing again?

Satan is a figment of Zoroaster's imagination. I believe that while the Jews were held captive for 50 years by the Persians they may have be influenced by Zoroastrianism which was the dominant religion at the time in the region and may have later incorporated Satan (changed a bit from the OT) into New Testament writings.

Zoroastrianism is considered by some scholars to be the oldest monotheistic religion dating up to 6,000 years BC. Other scholars date Zoroaster's writings later to about 1500 BC. He taught of Ahura Mazda who was the supreme, single God and Angra Mainyu, an evil spirit who opposed God.

It's difficult to say who came up with Satan first, but many scholars believe Zoroaster did.

Yes, everything I've learned comes from books, and friends, and forums, and enlightened ones, dream interpretation, logic, probability...

Satan is not inside of me. Satan is not the great deceiver. He is not a snake nor is he a faulty aspect of humanity or an enemy of God. He is simply a rebel in jail and unworthy of anything more than a footnote in the universe.

Lucifer, Satan, and Beelzebub did not rebel against God because they did not know God. They only knew "of" God, they only knew what they were told. They did not earn the right to know God because they did not earn their way to heaven.

Angels do not come from heaven. Angels are created by high ascended universal beings to do specific tasks for the universe but they may choose the path of ascension if they wish, the same path you and I are on.

Lucifer, Satan, and Beelzebub truly rebelled against the rules of their own kind and not God. God's rules are unbreakable, they are the physical laws and nothing, not even the most highly ascended beings can violate them.

There is nothing in the universe that is against God. This is not possible. The closest thing to anything being against God is ignorance since God is truly All That Is. God created the universe for His children to join with biologics to grow into mature universal beings.

There are no tests. There are no tricks. God is not a powerful child with the worst of human faults. This is something the tribal holy men and priests invented because they could not understand why God allows bad things to happen.

Choose to do no harm and live, learn, experience, grow, and mature. Choose to do all this regardless of what others are doing. And do not view this existence as the only one for you. We all have a very, very, long ways to go.

it seems to me from your other posts, that you yourself have everything neatly sorted in your mind that all religion are tools of satan. so you are pretty much the same in a different color.

if that is the case, then it is useless to state my views coz it doesnt matter. your goal is just to refute it

Satan is an excuse for the weak. He is nothing. He is like an ant fighting against the sun and you are the sun and God is a billion suns.

I am pretty much the same as what? Are you calling me Satan? Hehe, project threats somewhere else little one, you can't scare me with your fire and brimstone bravado.

I've been to your church and found it wanting. It stands for itself and misrepresents the true God who does not kill or murder and does not become jealous or tempt or anger.

My goal is not to refute anything you say Worshipper. You have 21 posts, what do I know of you?

My goal is to defend God. So I ask people this, which do you choose, God or religion?

There are many who deny the existence of Satan. The existence of Satan cannot be determined by the opinions of men. The only source of information is the Bible. That is the reason why Satan tries to discredit the Word of God. He is not a "principle of evil" he is a - person.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1Pet 5:8
He "walketh" and "roars" this could not be said of a "principle of evil". He has many names - Satan, Devil, Beelzebub, Belial, Adversary, Dragon, Serpent. He is mentioned by one or the other of these names 174 times in the Bible.
He is a great "Celestial Potentate". He is "The Prince of the powers of the air" Eph 2:2
"The God of this world" (Age) 2COR 4:4 So mighty is he that man cannot successfully resist him without Divine help.
He is a created being, and that of the most exalted type. He was before his fall "the anointed cherub that covereth" that is, he was the gaurdian or protector of the "Throne of God"
