Isn't it marvelous how many such mysteries exist? And isn't it miraculous how every one of them resists scientific peer review. No doubt it must be a multidisciplinary conspiracy on the part of scientists throughout the world ...

Well Druidus after looking at this page and cheking out all the pictures and 'proof' I have to say I agree with the Smithsonian. The supposed "haversian" canals do not look like the real thing but they do look like microcystaline crystals.
