I mean this as a serious question. Do these sorts of Evangelical "proper" Christians honestly think someone watching what's been going on in these discussions over the last couple of weeks would look at the mess they've made and think "Wow! I'd like to be like them!"? Is it just for their own self-gratification? Sure, people of other faith traditions do it to, but doesn't it seem to happen almost as a matter of course with "Evangelical" Christians?
The more they do it, the uglier it appears. Am I wrong about that? Does anyone think the approach we've seen recently in attacks on Christians who don't meet "proper, Evangelical standards" has done anything but slander their faith by trying to force it on other people who they don't even have the decency to get to know or listen to first? What's in their Holy Water? ![]()

The problem is that they think they're doing exactly what is right. Mainly because when they read the Bible, they miss the forest for the trees....

Mat 23:24
(24) Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Personally i don’t blame them, they just follow Paul to much and then can't see any other perspective....sort of like having a blind fold on...

They do it 'in love' to bring others to the gospel of Jesus Christ. To me, there are about a million other ways to present the gospel of Jesus Christ that would appeal to more people and still be the gospel then doing what many evangelical/fundamentalist Christians do to other people.

Certainly not the ability to abstract.
Ironically, I think the problem is that they are doing exactly what the Law against Idoltry wishes to avoid: a fixed and rigid focus on one detail.
