What is the point or usefulness of praising God? Why is it, or isn't it, important? Who, if anyone, benefits from praising God? How do they benefit?

Praise and prayer have similar benefits... for me, praise is simply prayer in song. The benefit I suppose over prayer is that if one doesn't want to be still and meditative to participate in the goodness of God's presence, one can do it musically.

For me, Praise (as AE put it, is just one of a whole range of "positive" emotions - I agree about the singing, coincidentally) is a "positive flow of energy". As I believe that the entire world and everything on it is God (as am I, ( part of God)), therefore praise benefits everyone , (me included), and God.

Really? Is that right? Can anyone think of a better way of expressing love than praise?

It seemed to me (from my church, anyway) that God created us specifically for praising him. I guess God wanted someone to love and appreciate him. It benefits us because God won't bless us if we don't praise him.

We should praise God, because our relationship with God is reciprocal. God blesses us, so we bless God. God gives to us, and we give to God out of that which God has given us.
