Is this going to happen? Is this a metaphor? Either way what does it mean to us personally?

It may be a loaded question. To ask if there is going to a second coming assumes there was a first.

I'm not sure of it will happen or not. I don't believe that Jesus was the messiah or that he was the son of G-d but i do know that the Jews were commanded on how to live for all generations including the messianic period so if Jesus is really the Moshiac then it will be revealed in time.

Perhaps it is a belief (and/or hope) of those who feel they need salvation.

A prominate Jew, I can't remember who, said "When The messiah comes, I will say to him." "First time here in Jerusalem or have you been here before?" LOL
Whether first or second advent the result will be the same. All of Israel will be saved. The Kingdom of Y H V H will be established here on earth. Those chosen by Him, not those who chose him, will be in the first resurrection, ruling with Him. This I believe with perfect faith.

I think an important question would be, if there was a second coming and Jesus was to "descend" to earth again, would he (or she) even be recognized or taken seriously? Could we be tolerable or trustful to this man (or woman) knowing full well that other people in the past have made this same claim? Even if this second coming came replete with miracles, what if his/her present teachings were so far removed from the Bible's that it was difficult for him/her to get any message across? Can you imagine what a frustrating, futile ministry this would BE?
