I Say God Rewards Good Deeds! (Earth, prophet, experience, agnostic)

I am starting this thread to get everyone's opinion - based on whatever belief system you subscribe to. Obviously, the Christians among us will state that God does not reward a person for good deeds - but I hold this to be true:

IF God exists, I say he will reward people based on their actions on this earth - in other words, people that do good deeds will be rewarded, people that do bad deeds will not.
Because I am an Agnostic, I will go as far as to say that if God exists, no single religion, or belief system will be looked upon in God's eyes as superior to any other. I realize that this is self-serving, but then again, I'm not convinced that God even exists!

I will have to disagree with this. Since I am "fresh off" another discussion about this very same topic I will have to reiterate that doing/BEing good is in itself a reward. Goodness should be a commodity/experience that does not have to BE recognized and rewarded by GOD or anyone else. If someone is in the practice of expressing goodness and they feel should be awarded I say TREAT YOURSELF for you probably deserve it.



People who do bad deeds should perceive personal responsibility for their actions and learn from their mistakes in the effect that they do not repeat them, that knowledge, that awareness, I believe is a form of a reward in itself.

I like what you are saying - that the good deed is the reward in itself. We agree. I also think that this view is the way this life on earth should be viewed.

My point in this thread, however, is that I'm saying that IF God exists, he will recognize all belief systems, and will reward people based on their deeds - not whether they adhered to a single religions view of what they believe God says, knows, does, wants, etc. That does not mean that we should do good deeds to please God, we should do them for their own sake. Just that God will recognize them when the time comes (assuming He exists).

If God exists then yes we are rewarded for our good deeds. Everything has its opposite. If we are punished for bad deeds, then we are rewarded for good deeds. Maybe the reward is that we don't get punished for a good deed.

I personally feel that if you perform "good" deeds, you will be fine. A truly superior being would not hold something as petty as your denomination or religious preference against you. Jealousy and pride are human characteristics that we should strive to repress, not celebrate.

In all my conversations with GOD (and I have documented and catalogued quite a bit) he/she had never proposed a reward/award system nor was there any evidence of GOD adhering to our concepts of good and bad. There is only one promise that GOD extended to me but I do not think it is a reward. That is assuming that the entity that I was in communication with was indeed the ONE TRUE GOD.
