If you are speaking of a universal essence that holds all together that could be termed as G-d then possibly, if you are speaking a universal essence that everyone recognizes and identifies as the same thing, then probably not...the reason being is that every group would probably define this as "G-d" so there would be vast differences.

It would help if the question was more specifice, like, is there a universal consciensess that everyone agrees on, or is the universal concience x? These questions would casue more and better debate.

I think what you are describing is essentially a more Eastern view of "God". Western religions see God as a personality. Eastern religions seem to see God more as an energy or force. Western religions for the most part describe God, right down to gender and personality. Eastern religions for the most part describe God with only one word: indescribable. :P

The idea of a Universal somethingness that unites all of creation is at least part of the Creator concept for many Native American spiritualities.
Some I have talked with, and to a degree I agree with them, think that as our population has grown the collective pool of "souls" has been stressed. This has ment that more of the collective has had to spread among man and his over bred animals in thinner and thinner ammounts. Less soul to go around to everyone contibuting to extinctions and to mans increasing detatchment from the world around him.
I thought this was an interesting idea.

That is an interesting idea. But I think it works in reverse. If everyone stayed open there is plenty of soul to go around. It's when you try to bottle it that there is a shortage.
