In the long run (perhaps in the very long run!), the diversity and conflict we see around us today might be just part of a creative process that will eventually result in a greater unity of religions. Perhaps there will eventually be a synthesis. But I think that, if it ever happens, will take a very long time to come about.

How about the UNITY in almost all of the world after 9-11? Just how does one squander this show of world unity? With nurture, who knows how it could have grown. But alas someone did squander it.

Just to stay on topic: How can world unity come about in an age of shrinking natural resources -- such as we will soon face? Aren't we in for more and more wars fought for resources? (Of course, those wars will be masked by claims that they are fought for self-defense, for purely ideological reasons or for humanitarian reasons.)
