Default How Can You Insult A Religion?
How can you insult a religion? I understand that you can insult a person, but how can you insult a religion? A religion is not a person. It has no consciousness. It is aware of nothing. So how can it be insulted?

For that matter, how can you insult a God? A God is so far above us that the very worse insult we could think of to hurl at a God would mean less to that God than it would mean something to us if an ant chose to spit at us. So, how can you insult a God?

It can't.... but I can't think of an insult directed at a "religion" that does not insult the followers of that relgion.... unless you direct the insult at something silly...

Well.... you know I'm gonna answer in relation to my view that there is but ONE God... and any insult directed towards God does truly hurt.... I believe God loves each and every person and wants a relationship with that person.... so any insult harms that relationship.

an example the comes to mind revolves around the abuses at Guantanamo- standing on, tearing up, and dirtying a Quran is a great insult to the book and to the religion of Islam, even if no Muslims are aware of the insult paid.

one can blaspheme against a God, certainly. and if one holds the view that blaspheme draws one further from God and that God wishes to be close to us, God may well be insulted or hurt by this deliberate choice of seperation. it's a possibility, at least.

People who believe in a particular religion and hold it dear to their hearts of course will be insulted. Religion is it's people...it's not merely a book of words. Insulting someone's religion is almost as personal as criticising someone's children. A touchy subject for sure.

It's my personal opinion that if there is a God, we insult him when we are unloving and disrespectful toward each other.

HOW TO INSULT A GOD

1. Make "fat" jokes about his wife in front of the other gods.

2. Name your cat after him.

3. Email his "xerox cheeks" photos taken at the last office party to everyone in your address book.

One surefire way is to pinpoint someone’s faith by possibly making a derogatory statement about it, I guarantee that you will a get a rise out of someone. Try it towards someone who doesn’t have faith and you won’t get a rise out of them, you will get a debate. It is not the originality of their faith that upsets a religious person it is the personal aspect of their faith that upsets them.
