Death More Valued Than Life?
I've heard that Islam values death, while those in the western world value life. Why is that?
 No offense, but this sounds preposterous to me. But then again I don't completely understand their whole perspective.

Cynic are you talking about Islam specifically or any and all religions with the posulation of an eternal blissful after-existance? Also is the debate topic,
"which is more value the present life or the afterlife" or, is there a different debate topic you were shooting for? It isn't clear in the op to me at least.
