So many people believe in God. If God was possible, why aren't mythical creatures?
God supposedly performed all these miracles. Unbelievable ones. So therefore, why is it so hard to believe in such other things like, Dracula for example? Dracula, surprisingly, is more believable than God, in the sense that the vampire's powers do not exceed God's. Man descended from apes, apparently. A minotuar, a descendant of a goat? PS: Don't dream. |

Don't dream? What do you mean by that?
And mythical creatures do exist. I don't know about Dracula, having never met 'im, but I know a few dragons who'd put in a good word for their existance! A unicorn, too.

Dracula does exist. Not quite the way everyone pictures him, though.

By saying the creatures are mythical you are contending that do not exist. It is a strawman type of arugement to use the belief in unicorns, santa claus the tooth fairy ect to prove God's non-existance.
As far as the notion of mircles some religions claim there are mircles some don't. It is my understanding that no religious mircle has ever been verified although much research has been done which would suggests divine mircles have yet to be proven to exist. And until such time scientifically they do not exist. That is not a proof of a divine absence. Instead it is a suggestion of the absense of divine mircles. |

Dude, I am only saying they are "mythical" as that is how they are suposedly "classified".

John Henry was a legendary man who reached mythical proportions. I believe it a fine line between legand and myth. Myths are told of George Washington and Daniel Boone, for example. Quote:
I would use the term "analogy" instead of strawman. But that's just me -pah- Last edited by Bright-ness' Shadow; 10-14-2004 at 11:53 PM. |

God is a mythical creature. There is no more evidence that He exists than there is that any other mythical creature exists.

Dracula is based of a genuine man, Vlad Tepes/Dracul aka 'the impailer'. Dracula the vampire is conglomeration of old folk tales about vampires and just enough of a dash of history to make the character believable.
Most mythological animals were metaphors used in stories or just plain neet characters. The Unicorn for example was origionaly a fierce beast known for killing elephants then became a christian symbol assoicated with christ. Dragons are symbols of strenth and nobility, or in later periods evil and sin. Some mythical creatures are the result of misidentification of real animal based on third, fourth or more hand accounts. Centuars for example may have origionated with early sightings of people (sythians?) on horseback by early Greeks. Griffons may have origionated with sightings of fossilized Protoceratops who have bird like beaks and 'lion' like bodies. The Cyclops was most likely the result of seeing fossilized elephant skulls on the mediterainian islands where the legends origionated. So yes, mythical creatured do exist, often not as real creatures but as cultural ideas, and misidentification. wa:do |

I may be a little off the intent of this post here but I'm going to take a stab at it any way. My personal definition of mythology is "sombody elses religion". |
