Why couldn't there be anymore? (Jesus Christ, rejecting, Torah, gospel)

I am sure God still speaks to us.

I could describe it as Little speak and Big speak.

Little speak is when he comes into our hearts and influences our thoughts.
Big speak is more controversial, It is where he sends a message to the world through a prophet.
Of the Christian churches only the LDS have a recognized prophet; the rest baulk at the idea. (I think their real reason is because of the difficulty of proving that some one is truly speaking for God)
In the LDS case this is no problem as he is declared a prophet before he is given any thing to impart to the world.

As you have already pointed out, there are different "traditions". I can accept that. But, if that "tradition" accepts Christ as their savior, it falls under the realm of "Christianity". Add modifiers after that to determine which school of Christianity different denominations fall under - that's fine - but I cannot accept any definition of Christian that leaves me out - because I am definately a Christian.

Anyway, this isn't the topic of the thread. I tend to get sidetracked by this issue. Sorry.

The vast majority of Christians do not believe that God stopped talking to humanity. A select few perhaps do believe as you have noted, but I think most all see God continually pouring out his Word everyday.

The disagreement has always been on whether God comes to us with "new" dogma.

And let's not forget the East here either. Buddhism grew out of Hinduism. And Hinduism itself is not just "one" religion, but is more like Judaism is: there are a few "layers" before Sinai. Likewise, Hinduism has some layers before Krishna.

Actually, I would think it odd if God gave us some message 2000 or whatever years ago and it never needed some updating.

The problems we have now are somewhat different than 2000 years ago. The Romans never had the ability to destroy the earth, for one thing. And clear answers are not to be found in the older religions, because they were not meant to address these kinds of problems.

I think there sometimes is.

It results in a new denomination or church.
Existing churches always lose their potential for accepting the new,
under the weight of Tradition, learning, acceptance of previous teaching,
and the authority of the Church.

In the Baha'i view, not only CAN God speak again, but He has and will always continue to do so!

Please recall that Jesus said "I have many things to tell you, but you can't bear them now" and promised to send the Spirit of Truth to lead us to All Truth!

We Baha'is see our Founder, Baha'u'llah, as this promised Spirit of Truth (and the Return of the Christ Spirit with the new name the Bible promised and prophesied!

And God's Lovingkindness toward humanity, and His Divine Revelation, will NEVER end! He will always send more Divine Messengers to give us His teachings for each new Age! . . .
