Islam is set up on a system of justice and balance. Rights that are given to the creation. If someone took certain rights from you by Allah you are permitted to fight and defend yourself. People are confrontational not the religion. I think the question should be Just how warlike are muslims. then we can examine the specific individual groups and compare them to what Islam says. Are they doing what Islam requires. No, that is why the things that are happening is happening. When people leave the path of true Allah will send groups to check them. Look at what the Mongols did. When the Muslims started commiting wrong by transgressing the limits set up by Allah he sent someone to check them. Allah system is just. If you are wrong Allah will use whoever to correct you. it is sad but only when really tramatic things occur do people remember Allah and that is what is happening. It is a test from Allah. But no one is saying anything about Israel who are killing more civilians than these "group" Yet noone says they are warlike when they are the ones with all the big guns and weapons.

However, some cultures that have arised from Islamic states are warlike and very tribal (just like some cultures that have arisen from Christian states). I think it is the culture and that culture's interpretation of Islam that is the problem, not the religion itself.

Do you mean muslims Victor, if I understand your question. We refer to the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) and that is it. It is when people try to take someone other than the Messenger as an authority on what Allah said. The Prophets message and explanation is sufficient anything beyond what Allah says in the Quran and what the messenger commands us is wrong. Look up what the rules are for jihad and compare to the actions of those whom we are speaking about. You will see it is pretty clear.
