Please note: The above article doesn't mention it, but the Emerging Church Movement is world wide in scope, with groups from Australia to Macedonia involved in it. What do you think of the Emerging Church Movement? Is the ECM God's answer to the big mega churches? Is the ECM more in tune with the early spirit of Christianity than today's churches? Do you think the ECM's emphasis on community involvement is a good or bad thing? Would you yourself mind meeting in a house, a bar, or a coffeeshop for worship rather than a church? Do you think the ECM has a future? Will it continue to thrive or will it die out? What do you think of the statement that the ECM will influence the mainline churches? Do you think that is likely to be the case?

The Emergent Church Movement is of genuine interest to me, as its philosophies are very much along the same lines of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), thereby appealing to my own. As for it being more in tune with the early spirit of Christianity, I'd like to believe so.

According to this article there are two kinds of megachurches, those based on conversion and those based on transfer. The ECM might be a fad also in the fashion of megachurches based on transfer - the "hottest thing in town". Seems to be takeaway Christianity we can consume at home. |

It sounds nice, and also very genuine.
