Are we all just killing time waiting for time to kill us? (beliefs, myths)

Are we just wasting time here talking back and forth using the same words over and over, words that have no real meaning, words like: omnipotent, supernatural, angels, God, miracles, heaven, destiny, spirits, myths, deity, objective reality, divine power, theology or a hundred more that really mean nothing in every day life, what do they honestly mean? they are words used to describe something that does not exist, words about nothing describing nothing and enlightening no one, theories and ideas about theories and ideas which in turn breed more theories and ideas, all going nowhere except around and around.

That's my opinion, and I am wrong of coarse.

Quite possibly... if that were the case, do you think we should stop and just get on with things more relevant to our every day lives?

no, you're not wrong, from your point of view you are right - but yes, from my point of view you are wrong, because you assume them to have no meaning, whereas i do find them to be meaningful

I find living to be a sufficient activity to indulge before death. I don't think there is any great meaning or purpose in life. Live well, laugh often.

AND....how we act on those beliefs. If we believe something that turns out not to be there, but in the end we have contributed to our selves, family, and society by having those beliefs...what's wrong with that? Doesn't seem like a waste of time then.

Not at all, if it gives pleasure, I must admit though, I am getting a tiny bit fed up with going around and around, reading the same old c--p, how people can go through their lives quoting verses from the Bible or the Koran just blows my mind, and talking as if what they are reading about is the truth, ( I understand they believe in it that's why they do it) but it still blows me away. I think it's such a waste, although what else would they be doing?

That used to annoy me as well, royol, but then I figured, why am I letting it get to me? If I spent my time letting many things that could annoy me actually annoy me... well I wouldn't have very much time on my hands and my mood would be in a state of constant annoyance!

For example, if I have absolutely no interest in trainspotting (as I don't) then it would be a total waste of time for me to engage in that activity. However, that doesn't make the activity itself an objective waste of time.

I do run into difficulties if I find other people engaging in trainspotting as annoying. Responsibility would certainly lie with the trainspotters if they had me bound and gagged at the side of a railway but if they just went about minding their own business then I suppose the onus is on me to deal with my annoyance in whatever way I can whether that means making a general rule of avoiding trainspotters or, more ideally, learning to deal with and move past my annoyance so I can interact with people who indulge in such activities without feeling annoyed anymore.

Keep in mind that RF is a place for atheists as well, however. Atheism and various worldviews might not be religions but I think RF benefits hugely from having an atheist membership and allowing atheist discussion alongside religious discussion.
