I'm well aware of this. Atheists are equally contributing to the forums. However, one should not come to the RF and complain about people quoting scripture.

It would certainly seem counter productive.

That's my opinion, and I am wrong of coarse.
Any of these terms can be discussed and so acquire meaning, even if it is only for those involved in the discussion. The same applies to any word you apply in everyday life. If you say "apple", it means something to me. But does it mean the same thing as what you mean by it? All meaning is contingent IMO. We can be hoodwinked into believing that meaning of terms applied to "everday life" is somehow concrete, while the religious/mystical terms of which you complain have none. But this a conceptual error on your part IMO.

But, all of those words do have meanings (*buys him a dictionary).

I would agree the words have meaning in the fact that we all know what they are conveying,
but do they really mean anything, we could talk all night about aliens from space but would we just be going around in circles? not really talking about anything but, perhaps and maybe or could be, nothing concrete or substantial and in the end we would all be none the wiser,
in other words a discussion about nothing.

Would you say the word Unicorn has meaning?
how about thingamejig?

Yes, sometimes it is frustrating that all these ideas are tossed about and humanity doesn't really get anywhere closer to the truth, but only if we seek can we find. We may even learn a few lessons on the way.

Of course, there will always be those unreceptive individuals who immediately shun any ideas they don't agree with. You just have to deal with them as another fact of life: generally unavoidable, nearly omnipresent, frequently annoying, but sufficiently malleable for change; and if not, always capable of being ignored.
