The biblical God is only 3500 years old. Our species is at least 160,000 years old. It is inconceivable that the only time people have been happy during the time we've been on this earth has been after the invention (or revelation, if you're a believer) of the biblical deity.

The only difference between a book in god, is that you're hobby bosses you around, wehereas I can burn mine if I don't like it. (partially j/k)

Regarding people living without the externals, humans are highly adaptable and could easily learn to live without books and chocolate, they would invent substitutes. |

Good question Jensa.
I have met many happy (or seemingly so) atheists here on this forum. I am constantly learning and shaping my view of the world through those of you here without faith...... my faith in God teaches me to be constantly searching for the good in people, and it confuses me greatly how many good and wonderful atheists I have met here. All I know is that I am happier now that I have faith, and I wish everyone that kind of happiness and peace, and I can only talk about what worked for me. I hope everyone can respect that. Scott |

I have to admit to being human, as there are people in this world that I do not make that same statement for. So, for me, I would say that someone like Scott is an example of an individual (and I know of many others) being happy with God, while I can honestly say that I count myself (and most other Agnostics and Atheists) firmly in the camp of people that are happy without God.
