Religion - It's... (morals, tradition, beliefs, followers, choice)

When there are soooo many more important secrets that we need to know like ummmm God? or maybe Cure for aids? Do you get what I'm saying? I'd like to think these spirits aren't wasting there time with a petty physical relationship, when there are much more important things going on in the world today that these apparent "spirits" should deal with

First, if his grandmother is claiming that a spirit told her these things, chances are she already believe in a deity. Second, since when aren't relationships important? Having relationships is one of the most important aspects of life.

Heh. You may laugh, but I was taught as a christian. I have been persuaded by fairly logical arguments, to realise the idiocy of it all. We're atoms, molecules and a very nicely evolved battery and control mechanism. When it packs in we're worm food, there's no heaven, there's certainly no virgins, and we don't come back as animals, humans or gods. Although on the last one, I actually quite like buddhism, and all it teaches, 'cept reincarnation makes no sense...

I have a hard time believing the story, for many reasons. So I'll ask first. What were these spirits? Where did they come from? Were they angels? Were they from God?

If they were from God, I know the God who revealed himself to Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, Abraham, Noah, David, Jacob etc... (peace be upon them all) was the same God that did not allow same sex relations, so I kind of find it hard to believe that it was coming from God and that he was condoning it in any way. (That's evewn if he was, I don't know the whole story)

You bring up a good point, relationships are important. What are so important about relationships? The relationships we have with eachother are gonna be an example for our kids, and our kids kids. Not only are they important for that reason, they are important so we can actually HAVE kids, and a healthy family. Again, this may not be everyones belief, but it's mine, and the relationship that was brought up by these "spirits" is completely against God. So forgive me for doubting the legitimacy of this story.

As for frg001, you say your parents are Christians right? I just hope you know that if it wasn't for God, and if it wasn't for the Christian decisions that your parents made in there lifetime YOU WOULDN'T BE HERE TODAY!!!!! So I must ask you this, is religion really that stupid?

you don't have to believe it to be true, thats not what im asking for. all i am saying for the sake of this debate is that religion is not just some stupid delusion people make up, because i have found my religion to contain an awful lot of what i concider to be truth.

this is just one of many things i have experienced that have no normal explanation, i could give you many stories, but for the sake of this debate one story is enough to show my point.

anyway, this spirit wasn't a messanger of any God, it was just a spirit....... maybe even my grans spirit, i don't know, but remember, not all of us follow that interpritation of the abrahamic God
