Christians debating Christians (beliefs, doctrine, atheist, bible, faith)

I thought Christians were supposed to be fighting against Wiccans, GLBT's, and atheists. I look in the same faith debates section and I see Christians fighting with Christians about who is more Christian. This is just weird to me. Because I live in a bubble I miss out on a lot. Is this a typical thing among Christians?

I put this in the debate section just in case....

Actually, Christians shouldn't be "fighting" with anyone.

Most of our debates focus around different interpretations and applications of the bible.

I think we've just got a passionate group of Christians on this forum who feel very strongly about their personal convictions and beliefs.

There's probably little point in debating interpretation of scripture but I think we learn a lot about and from each other through debating.

Those are just my thoughts.

I just like debating. I don't care with whom, but most of the time it's christians who start the threads and christians who reply to my threads.

Yeah, it's crazy. I never hear a Jew tell another Jew, "Your not a real Jew!" or a Hindu tell another Hindu, "Real Hindus believe [such and such], so you obviously can't call yourself a Hindu." I have no problem with Christians debating Christians, but why so many of them are so exclusionary is beyond me.

Typically people tend to be good at what they like to do. This seems to be the case with you. Although you might like debating a little too much, heh heh.

I agree. nobody should be fighting but this is the place to come if you want to (debate section that is.)

I agree . I may be wrong but it seems like there is lots of room for interpretation of scripture but I also believe that if you believe in Christ there should be no debate on whether you are a Christian but this has been hashed out in other debates.

I agree. The group that we have here are some of the most intelligent and passionate about their beliefs. I respect this quality very much. This includes you as well

I have learned more about others through debating than any other place but I have also learned a lot about myself. Thanks for the reply Dawny and Aqua

Or, they like to do what they're good at. But, yeah. I might like it a bit too much. I guess I"m a bit of a masochist, since most of the debates here are extrememly frustrating and stressful.

All the twisting and distorting of what I say can really take its toll...

I think it's a great thing to learn about doctrine or other things we may not know about in other Christian denominations. And it often leads to a debate. But, it is of the utmost importance to try toremain kind to each other when questioning and disagreeing. Otherwise, you aren't setting a very good example for your religion or yourself.

I think alot of it stems from one thinking they're 'path' is the only true 'path' and if you don't believe what they believe, you won't get to were you think you will. IMO, God gives different people different paths to follow. Let God guide you on the path he has chosen for you and don't let others tell you you're wrong for it.
