If we assume that God created the universe, it seems to raise a question about the morality of the Creator. The universe is obviously amoral. So, how can the Creator of an amoral universe be other than amoral? What do you think?

I've questioned this myself (dealing with the Christian perspective of creation). I find it strange that an all-loving, all-knowing God would create a world, knowing Satan would rebel and destroy his creation, that humankind would live in sin and that he (God) would punish them if they sinned (when he is the one who allowed sin to be in the first place). Makes me think that this God isn't anything other than sadistic (or a failure, hmm...) and either amoral or immoral. That's just my view on it.

As far as the argument goes it is puerile, childish, pouting and immature. It makes certain assumptions, chief amongst which is the assumption that creation is "immoral" or "amoral". Why should one make such an assumption? Its childish because it is a descendant of the "If you won't play by my rules, I'm taking my ball and going home!" Well, its not his ball. He does not have any right to make the rules. He already IS home. Regards, Scott

This is one of the questions (if god is all good, how could evil exist, or even judge a human for being as god made him, evil) that has no relevance in Taoism.
For you will find the problem with this argument is in the assumption that the divine is in any way human-like. If it isn't, and it isn't good or evil. The question no longer exists. ![]()

Sunstone I know what you are saying....I have often wondered myself in BELIEVING God did creat the whole thing why He in HIS wisdom allowed Satan so much reign over things...the only good thing being is that one day Satan will be no more and we WILL live in a peaceful/caring/gentle/perfect world. When He made man and then created woman from man...why eve HAD to be tempted in the first place to cause what we anguish over in this world today.
I am sure though that God has His reasoning in it all and one day it will become clear. |

Are with talking exclusively about those theists that believe that the universe was created by a diety? Or all forms of theology?
