Does the institution of marriage come from God or from humans?
I would argue that it comes from humans. But what do you think? (I've started this thread here because the question was getting us off topic in another thread)

Sunstone, please clarify and tell me if you ONLY see marriage as a ceremonial thing?

I don't understand how someone can say "Marriage is god given" and then allow people who follow other gods to get married...
Could someone explain that to me please? If you believe marriage is god given, you more than likely believe marriage was given by your god. So therefore, you should technically be against any marriage that is not done with your gods permission... Or did I miss something here? |

Does anyone disagree with my thesis that marriage is fundamentally grounded in human nature, rather than in the dictate of God?
