God's Will (Creator, choices, choice, pray, God)

I frequently see the mention of God's will for us in these threads. How do we know in everyday decisions and choices, what God's will is for us? How do we know which person to marry (considering all choices are good people)? How do we know what God wants us to say to a person in need? We might think we are saying the right thing, but we might be doing damage. How do we know which is the correct career choice according to God's will? We make many choices and decisions on a daily basis.

Whatever happens is God's will. If something happens that is not God's will, then God was thwarted. A God that can be thwarted is not omnipotent.

Unless it is not GOD's will that must be done but our own will that must be done. I find it more challenging to accomplish our will (as physical human beings) than to demote or weaken the omnipotence of and All-powerful deity. If GOD had a purpose for us and this would include everything that people perceived as "bad", "wrong" or "evil" then I would put the responsibility in GOD’s lap to right this incorrectness (if evil and wickedness were indeed detestable and offensive to this BEing). Since observation clearly demonstrates that this isn’t the case, a deity that wills/desires/needs us to be “good” or “right” is clearly out of the running.

I think it's less "what" we paint...
and more how we paint it.

In Islam, we have a special prayer to ask God to guide us in our daily decisions to what is best

It's called Salat Al-Istikhara
