This is a continuation of a topic started in another thread. What was the purpose of Lucifer? Why did God create Lucifer?

Lucifer was originally the worship leader in Heaven.(sorry, I don't have a scripture reference for you, but I'm certain that you can find it.) There's even speculation that his body may have been an instrument. So, to make a long story short, he exalted himself, and was cast down from Heaven with one third of the angels. Part of this is found in Isaiah 14:12-17. As for the rest, I don't really have time to look it up, maybe at a later time.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!
Have I created a need to begin another thread????????? Heaven forbid anyone sees that it is individual threads that make up the FABRIC. Perhaps we need a fabric discussion and not just threads (but that I suppose is even another THREAD). |

Are Lucifer and Satan the same being? I always thought they were, but I may be wrong.
If they are the same, then God created Lucifer as He created all the other angels - with free will. (It is said that Lucifer was the most beautiful of all angels.) However, he used his free will and popularity to claim himself as great as God. That is why God finally threw him out of Heaven with 1/3 of the angels who followed him. It is interesting to note that Lucifer/Satan's first successful try at tempting man was in convincing man that he also could be like God, knowing both good and evil. |

Now this, literally taken is not Satan or Lucifer so it must be considered, if your believe Christy's assertion, that the character, at least, is mythological. and a symbol of Satan and perhaps Satan himself is mythological. Probably more proper in another thread, I beleive that is conclusive that the creation story is completely myth. -pah-

Wasn't Lucifer origionally a Grecco-Roman deity that was co-opted by Christianity rather late in the game?
Isn't the first referance to Lucifer as a Christian bad-guy in Dante's Inferno? wa:do |
