Correct me if I am wrong but I saw a little documentary on this subject not too long ago.
Satan is pronounced Saa tan Satan is not mentioned much in the bible at all, and the word Satan has nothing to do with hell or "the devil" per say. Satan means he was the prosecutor of Heaven and basically did God's dirty work. What I mean is he is the one who tempted mortals to see if they were not truely following god. This tempting was condoned by God. All most like a sting (cop term) . I'm not sure where I am going with this but it's a start.

You, your yetzer ha tov and your yetzer ha ra. The old fasioned cartoon an angel on one sholder and a devil on the other, you've got a picture.
With the Torah/Word of God you can take control of the yetzer ha ra.

umm........correct me if im wrong, but the name lucifer literally means 'learned people' does it not? I've heard a theory that the story of the devil, or 'lucifer', is really just the church's way of making people believe that science is bad and to turn away from it and embrace the church.

I don't know about your theory, but Lucifer is not in the Bible. The word means son of the morning, refering to the morning star. There is a reference to the King of Babylon, where he is likened to a "bright star". Is.12

Satan is attached to Human mind and rules in all the natural impulses and personal self belief and how that is projected etc. The power of Satan is active in all Human endeavour.
This is very subtle and not so subtle. All that needs to be done is to observe human interaction and realize there is a dynamic power behind what you see and what you are a player in. I am not saying this to be personal or offensive but stating something I know to be true. I know both sides of the equation and for me to use satan as an excuse isn't good enough because I know better and therefore that carries its own responsibility. It is plain in the Bible but the transformation out of Satan's kingdom into God's kingdom produces a dramatic change in the mind and mental processes. This does not seem to be understood in the modern church. |
