I feel there is too much ambiguity prevalent when people go about defining a God entity. The word is almost always a misnomer of what it represents and eventually resorts to a semantic dispute if argued. There is even sometimes infighting between people of the same belief-model due to vagueness.
From here on forth, I declare anything less than an absolutely-necessary-entity (ANE) should be deemed universally sufficient. This is nothing new, and I am merely using basic logic. Necessary and sufficient condition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia If God exists, God is an absolutely necessary entity. Meaning that the mere existence of God depends solely on God (nothing else). If God requires our worship, God is not God, but a sufficient entity like ourselves. We are not Gods because our existence in the universe is sufficient. We require a whole plethora of conditions to exist. For instance, if our Sun disappeared right now we would freeze to death and cease to exist. If we disappeared, the Sun would be unaffected. The sun is a necessary entity to us, but not necessary for all celestial bodies to exist in the universe. Therefore the sun is not an absolutely necessary entity. This is not an argument if God exists or not. Last edited by mnemonicTonic; 12-24-2011 at 10:58 AM.. |

So wouldn't the universe be God? Without the universe, none of us would exist
![]() Or Gravity could be God, we depend on it, everything does

I'm a panentheist, so the universe, and everything (including us) is within God. Although, even though I am a theist, I do not believe God is "necessary" -- either for worship, or for existence.

But without your God, wouldn't the universe not exist? Thus we need your God to exist.

No. Require would be a necessary condition in this case. Desire would be a sufficient one.
ex. We require air, food, water, protection from the elements, etc,. We desire deodorant, strawberry poptarts, fleece coats, etc,. |

Obviously, God doesn't need anything. I doubt many will argue with that.

Believe it or not. Most do. Hence worship, praise and sacrifice.
