If as you say the laws were given for morality then that morality is of the authoritative kind and is how children are taught. If the laws were from men then they would have been in the form of peer pressure. None of this reaches the formation of morality from thought.

Except animals do not think they ought to act in a way different than they do. This is what sets human morality apart.

That's not what he said Pah.

The laws are gone, but the morality remains.

The laws dealt with the outward appearances, but the law of Grace deals with the heart. If you get the heart right, you don't have to worry about appearances.

I'm not sure I follow what you are asking. By foundation, are you asking why morality exists, or what the fundamental principles of that morality are?

He implied, Doc, that the morality remained after the laws were gone and I thought that I had indicated that, or at least it could be inferred.

But no matter, I believe there are laws (or commands), apart from Grace, within the New Testament and they would hold to an authoritative mode. It is when Chirtianity organized and people gathered under it's belief that peer pressure began to replace, to a degree, the authotritative mode. Certainly the reward of heaven is still authoritative in nature but now belonging to the group begins to play a large role. The end point of morality, without the influence of group association and obedience comes when principles of morality (and this is not denied to Christians) are resolved and internalized.
