![]() The image circled is a cross-like image, called a starogram. In P66, the earliest manuscript of the Gospel of John, the starogram replaces two letters in Greek (our t and r) within the word "crucify" in John 19.15,18,and 20. It looks like a cross. Very cool stuff... apparently, the Christian scribes who accepted the "Gnostic" Gospel of Thomas also had some knowledge of what was going on with the ones who accepted John. This also appears in the Codex. ![]()

Yeah, they'll be included. I'm basically introducing the Gospel of Thomas, Infancy G. of Thomas, Proto-Gospel of James, and other apocryphal Gospels.

A "starogram"? Googled it and found nothing.
It looks like an ankh, which wouldn't surprise me since the text we have of Thomas is in Coptic.

So we have in P66 the symbol replacing the letters "t" and "r" (and the vowels between them) just like in Thomas saying 55. The bold letters indicate where the staurogram or roh-cross appear.
John 19:15-19 15 They cried out, "Away with him, away with him, crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." 16 So he delivered him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, 17 and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. 19 Pilate also wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."
