Earliest Christian Codex is not Biblical (gospel, church, bible, protestant)

I had not heard of Papyrus Egerton 2 until today. It contains fragments of a codex that is not quoted in any early Christian work, so we do not know the church fathers' opinion on its authenticity, and it was previously unknown to scholars before 1935.

Its date is quite early, usually figured to be around 150 CE. That makes this evidence of the earliest Christian codex, and this gospel is not in the canon.

it is not surprising as there is a vast compendium of truth lying out there to be discovered but one must look in order to find it.

next time you go to chapters pick up a copy of the Other Bible. It is chock ful of religious truth specific to the Abrahamaic faith but not included in the catholic or protestant canon

I own a book by that title edited with introductions by Willis Barnstone.

I only read the first half! I didn't know that it had NT-related stuff in it. I used it several years ago for work on the OT.
