The Left Behind books have to be my favorite series.
If you have not heard of these books - it is about a world left behind after God's and Christ's rapture of their chrurch. Soon the four main characters realize that the next 7 years are going to the toughest in their lives - they know they might not live through these years. The world falls on hard times because of another main character(the anti-Christ).For those of you have read it what do you think? (please try not to give anything away. I have only befun the second book.) Do you it portrays an accurate picture of what will happen one day?

If the rapture happens like this, I will eat my shorts (underwear). To which a friend said, "You'd better wear clean underwear all the time." My response, "I'll eat yours too, and they can be as dirty as they usually are." 1) It is not found in Scripture 2) No one in Christian history taught it 3) It is directly contrary to the message of the Bible - not on small points - but completely ravages and revises the doctrine of salvation so that it is no longer recognizable as "Christianity." Dispensationalism is a new religion. ![]()

I've read the books. They are, interesting. Obviously, make take on the end of the world is different, but I find them fun, facinating and very addictive.

I've read the whole series. I was fortunate, too. My wife (then my fiance) had almost the whole series. This was before the 10th and 11th books had been written and released, though. I got to read them, one right after the other, for a summer. It basically took me 2 weeks. It was a killer waiting for a new one to be released.
With that said, here's my take on them. I think they're good books, written okay, and have some interesting theories. But I don't think that it's going to happen. The books are very entertaining, however. And they give you a warm, fuzzy feeling most of the time, too. You want to see bad things happen to the bad guys, and you want to see everything work out for the good guys. *** Spoiler *** Jesus comes back. ![]()

I tried reading them, but considering the books are based on what happens after the rapture (which I don't believe in and find no scriptural support for) it was hard to keep with them.
I'm interested in seeing the movie just to know what happened to actor Kirk Cameron after Growing Pains. |

Hi, I read a couple, and watch the movies as they come out, but am not a big fiction fan. I have always studied on the rapture, and have believed in it for over 3 decades. I bought a couple of the non-fiction books by Tim LaHaye, and then bought a few other books which defended it quite well against other end-time scenarios that are out there. Vanished Into Thin Air by Hal Lindsey is one of the most in-depth books, going over the whole thing examining the scripture and presenting all sides. After many years of study and wonder, I am convinced of a pre-tribulation rapture. Since this thread is about the Left Behind Series, I won't go into a debate or anything, just posting my belief.

I was a (sometimes very active) member of the Church of Sweden (Evangelical Lutheran) for more than 60 years. I had never heard of the "rapture" theory until I rather recently began frequenting sites like this one. It wouldn't occur to me to read a book based on it.

I was raised Lutheran as well, and I had never heard of the rapture of the church, either. It was my wife -- who was Catholic but switched to Lutheran -- that told me about it. So I chalked it up to another one of the differences between Catholics and other Christians. Am I wrong in that assumption?< |
