i'm just curious about the Quran alone sect of islam so i have a few questions that i hope will be answered insha'allah.
How does one do abulution without the hadith as guidance? is it specified in the Quran? if so, could you show me. if not, is there a reason why? Also, how does one pray? how many raka? ,etc and could you show me where this is specified in the Quran. |

![]() among Quran-alone Muslims the issue of salat can be a contested one. views range as to how often per day the Quran mandates salat (three or five?), and what one "should do" when one prays. as for me, i pray five times a day, and usually do two prostrations per salat. most of the vocal part of my salat is spontaneous and in english, as that is the language i best understand. i am of course influenced by Muslims friends who follow the hadith, and so i open salat with Al-Fatiha. i bow, and prostrate, praise God, thank Him, call upon Him by His names, and make du'a. as for wudu, 5:6 is cited as commanding (if possible) the washing to the face, hands, arms, head, and feet with water and if not, pressing clean soil ton the face and hands as wudu. some Quran-alone Muslims i know made wudu always, others sometimes, others let it go.

I have a question about the same issue. If you were there at the time of Prophet Mohammed and he said, come ayani, let me show you how to make wudu', how to pray, etc, would you say i'll check in the Quran if there is any, or you would follow his instructions?
Got my point? ![]()

Truth ~
i see your point, brother. and i do follow traditional patterns of prayer so far as ruku and sujud. and admittedly some Quran-alone Muslims can spend more time than perhaps is reasonable arguing these things out. some Quran-aloners say this: that while we don't "follow the example of Muhammed" so far as hadith, we follow his example as monotheists, as those who submit to One God, who follow in the footsteps of Ibrahim, who are humble, generous, and prayerful. there's a discussion on prayer below in a Quran-alone forum- some follow traditional patters, others don't. How do you pray?

Peace-
i hear your concern, and it's a debate i get into with other muslims frequently. within the limits of this DIR forum, i would point out that to be a Muslim is to submit to God and not set up partners, to seek His guidance, to turn away from what is evil, and to be generous and humble. this is what the Quran says, and i rely on the Quran as my guide in faith. i suspect i will continue to be reminded that to many muslims, i "do not qualify" as a muslim if i do not follow the hadith, if i make friends with Jews and Baha'is and do not consider their faiths invalid, and if i regard God as being bigger than any one text or sect. this is part of why i have my faith above listed as "hanif". And who is better in the system than one who submits himself to God, and is a good doer, and he followed the creed of Abraham in monotheism? And God has taken Abraham as a friend. 4:125

But try to read Qur'an in arabic in salat (As you can, step by step)... because the english is the translation of the Qur'an not the Qur'an and this is one of the differences between muslims and Christians. They say Luke Gospel... but the fact that it is a translation may be of greek language.... and this is important. The translation of Qur'an is the meaning of Qur'an. understand in English and try to read it in arabic however you don't know it .like some of indonesian and indian muslims and so on. |

![]() I just felt sad that some Muslims think that anyone who make friends with the Jews and Baha'is doesn't qualify as a muslim. By the way, i read today in the newspaper that the King of Saudi Arabia was in the Vatican and he met the Pope. ![]()
