Do not be afraid my friend of the language I use in this prayer. To us Catholic Christians the power is in the precious blood and body of Jesus shed for us and for all on the cross. This blood of the new covenant is applied to us in the fullest sense when we recieve this blood under the appearance or accidents of wine and bread in the sacrifice fo Mass. The rest is poetic love language. The life is in the blood according to our Judeo Christian teaching. We should love and want this life of Christ in us personally. In the old testmanet the Sacrificial passover Lamb was to be sacrificed and his flesh eaten(Ex 12:8). Jesus is our new Sacrificial Lamb(Jn 1:29) who gives us his flesh and blood to consume as he commands(Jn 6:48-58) under the appearance or accidents of Bread and wine. He does not give it to us in a gross way but a supernatural way.The real presencse of Christ unde rthe form of bread and wine. It may look and taste like bread and wine but is really Christ himself.

Jesus is Eucharist Body, Blood, Soul, and divinity.

I hope that clarifies things a bit.

Gentle Lord Jesus have mercy on me a sinner.

O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as font of mercy for us; I trust in you!

My reply, I confess, was motivated by responses to another thread dealing with sex education and exposure in children.
Many seemed to think that knowledge and visual exposure to sex was confusing and harmful to children.
Yet the sex, violence and gore of Christian liturgy is deemed wholesome and beneficial to kids.

I saw an inconsistency.
