Today, on the 11th Hour, we remembered those who so tragically died in two world wars. I expect that all of us here have a relative we can remember who has fought in the service of their country that we might live in freedom.
That debt can never be repaid; both my Mother and father were involved in the 2nd World War; my father was taken prisoner twice, wounded while escaping (when he suffered frostbite and lost some of his right foot. There were so many who were frightened, but who still took up arms - for our sakes.........we can never be grateful enough for what they did. These came from all over the World - very few countries were unaffected, and most of us know of someone who risked his/her life, in the name of freedom.............. May God grant those who have God the compassionate one, whose loving care extends to all the world: We remember this day your children of many nations and many faiths whose lives were cut short by the fierce flames of anger and hatred. Console those who continue to suffer and grieve, and give them comfort and hope as they look to the future. Out of what we have endured give us the grace to examine our relationships with those who perceive us as the enemy, and show our leaders the way to use our power to serve the good of all for the healing of the nations. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord who, in reconciling love, was lifted up from the earth that he might draw all things to himself. May those who died in fear, misery and torture, be rejoicing today at the the many remembrance ceremonies throughout the Western World, for the thanks that we give them, at this time each year, when we remember what they did for us................. Amen.
