***This is to preface all my threads of 'music'. I find music to be a form of poetry and I would like to post hymns that we sing in my Church.

The First Presidency (leadership of the LDS Church) stated:

Inspirational music is an essential part of our church meetings. The hymns invite the Spirit of the Lord, create a feeling of reverence, unify us as members, and provide a way for us to offer praises to the Lord.

Some of the greatest sermons are preached by the singing of hyns. Hymns moe us to repentance and good works, build testimony and faith, comfort the weary, console the mourning, and inspire us to endure to the end.

This is one of MY all-time favorite hymns...when I sing it, it brings tears to my eyes. When I here it sung, it also brings tears to my eyes. Emphasis added is mine.
