I'm about to head out into the yard for some serious tackling of the overgrown lawn. The time before last that I mowed, I happed to pause for a moment to take a sip of water. I glanced down as I saw a movement, and saw a frog, hopping out of the way. If I hadn't stopped, it would have been good-bye Mr. Hoppy.
![]() Since then, I've been quite paranoid about hurting critters as I try to do yard work like this. I find that it helps (well, it helps me at least) if I say some version of this in my head. "Creatures of the Fire, Water, Earth and Air, Spirts of the East, South, West and North, Let my actions hold harm for no soul, Let hurt befall none in my path, Let those beings that wish to pass on to the next life Fall painlessly beneath my scythe's blade, And let me be a caretaker of the Mother in all Her Forms." I hope no one else is as worried as I am about such things, but I just thought I should pass it on.
