I think it's generally true, but I don't agree with the specific example. Nothing worse is going to happen if we don't torture. In fact, the very fact that we torture is probably going to cause something worse, as extremists find their views being justified by our actions.

The work was part of a sweeping ten-year contract awarded in December 2001 to provide logistical international support services to the U.S. Army, known as the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program, or LOGCAP. From food services to latrine cleaning, trucks to cots and tents, gymnasiums and showers, to generators and air conditioners -- you name it, KBR supplied it. Subsequently, the Pentagon awarded the company a no-bid contract -- which eventually ballooned into $2.5 billion -- to plan for and repair oil pipelines and wells damaged during the invasion. Quote:

No, but there was no substantial evidence that there were. We can't prove there are no terrorists in Canada, so why not invade them? |

As a liberal, I am opposed to the Iraq conflict because invasion was not merely unjustified, but STUPID. We weren't done in Afghanistan. We haven't crippled, much less destroyed, Al Qaeda. We haven't scored a meaningful victory in the War on Terror. We've just created more enemies, alienated our allies, and foolishly tied up our military resources in occupation of a country that posed no threat. Strategically as well as morally, Iraq was a mistake. OF course, it's not as simple as just giving up and leaving. We've made a mess, now we're honor-bound to stay until it's cleaned up.

Can you cite even one reference to a liberal making such a claim? Either on RF or in the media would be fine.
