The only way to perpetrate this magnitude of a deception is to actively do it, or simply be soooooooooo stupid that you let Cheney and Haliburton deceive you. Sorry Pete. I think you are making false statements right now but I certainly don't think you are lying to me. I just believe you are mistaken.

I readily agree that Bush, the Bush administration, Congress, the mainstream media in America, the politicians and media in a large number of countries across the globe and, finally, Suddam Hussein himself mistakenly believed that Suddam had WMD's. What I don't agree with is that this is the same as deliberately lying.

Congress, the mainstream media in America, the politicians and media in a large number of countries across the globe believed it because the Bush Administration said that it had evidence. But at the same time, there were members of Congress, the mainstream media in America, other politicians and media in a large number of countries across the globe who didn't buy the claims and wanted to see the evidence. We were conveniently told that would be a breach of national security.

When there is no credible evidence that Saddam had WMDs, and when the only people saying that he did were of questionable reliability, and when several of your own people voice their suspicions and you don't listen to them, only hearing what you want to hear, I don't think it's fair to call that an innocent mistake. When there is no credible evidence and you tell the world that there is, most people would consider that lying.
