Not long before courts forced public schools to stop choosing and mandating prayers or Bible readings, they also forced schools to end long-standing racial segregation. Many of the people who complained loudest about the end to religious indoctrination in public schools had already been on the forefront of complaints about the end to racial segregation.

If it is true, who is doing it. If it is false, why?

It is not so much atheism as it secularism. It started with anticlerical reading of seperation of church and state by the majority of Protestants. It soon evolved into “separation of religion and state" by secularists.

Little did the forefathers know that this would launch into taking away church support on a state level.

Though the First Amendment guaranteed religious freedom and prohibited the federal establishment of any church, the states were free under the Constitution to have officially supported churches. Most states had established churches with ministers receiving state salaries.

If it is wrong it's probably wrong for obvious reasons... Make people hate the opposition so they agree with you...

I think the author more means the geographic location of the people fighting to keep segregation and those fighting to keep religion in schools is the same... Possibly the fight of Brown vs Board of Education? That started in Kansas... Kansas seems to be the big state for Intelligent Design in public schools....
