I look at it this way, if you believe in God and God tells you to invade Iraq, surely you are going to do everything you can to do exactly that? In other words surely that must have been the strongest motivation and justification in Blair's mind for going to war?

If this is true, then should we really have a prime minister who is prepared to look at the factual evidence for and against the war with such a bias that has no basis in fact? Personally I would want to know that he made a proper decision based on rational and logical discussion to go to war, not because of some supernatural affirmation that I cannot independently verify!

If you were told by God to invade Iraq, yet you could not find enough factual evidence to support such a war, what would you do? Surely you would go with what you believed to be divine authority? But is that really how we want our foriegn policy to be conducted?

Here is a documentary showing the deep seated faith in God that Bush has, and he shares it with those he comes in contact with, in politics, especially Tony Blair, who is very religious too. That was evident at Princess Diana's funeral, when Tony Blair quoted 1 Corinthians 13.

I cannot believe Blair meant what he seemed to say.
That he should say "God will be my Judge when I die" would be perfectly acceptable; but to say "God told me to invade Iraq" (which he didn't say in those exact words)is IMO absurd. if that is what he in fact said, she should be removed from office.

I watched the interview, but honestly cannot remember exactly his words.

He basically said that he believed that both the people and, because he is a Christian, God will judge whether his being involved in the invasion of Iraq was correct or not. I don't like Blair but I like our press even less and they have basically blown this up out of all proportion. Any Christian would have said something similar and that in no way implies that he went to war out of some religious conviction.

God=CBI. All the same. What is important to remember in all this mad crap, is that while we flog our public services for small change, UK companies (i.e. EDO) are making a killing (see the pun!) in Iraq. All is well that ends well. Or so says Jesus or something.

I've despised them both for so long that I rarely think there's anything funny about either of them, but that struck me so funny I laughed out loud.
