Do the American administration and that of India make obvious bedfellows politically, ideologically, technologically and even religiously?

Well there are some interesting statistics to consider when we think of Pakistan and India, most prominent being that there are more Muslims in India as a number (not a percentage) than in Pakistan. In this sense there are ties from before partition that cross the national boundry, and thus an inherent bond if not between Islam and 'Hinduism' simply between some families.
However the OP was more to do with India and America than India and Pakistan.

I think US is done with Pakistan for now, having completely made used of her for what US wanted. Now US is trying to get India to work to curb the economic growth of China. Simply put, there was no permanent enemy or friend for US. US will work with anyone, including devil itself, if it is to her advantage.
