Reports of a bombing in Ahwaz, in the province of Khuzestan near the border with Iraq. Tehran accused Britain of playing a hand, but is the truth more Sinister... The BBC reports that there was an attack in Ahwaz http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/4642170.stm which Tehran has said was as a result of British action. Britain strongly denies responsibility http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/4347216.stm which may in part be true, but Tehran may be correct in associating Britian in the attack, not so much as the main instigators, but as the scene of the plot. The US, UK, France and Germany have been trying to persuade Russia and China to support a hard line on Iran. The six countries held a closed-door meeting in London on Monday 16th January. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/mid...st/4615636.stm It is already being rumoured in Intelligence circles that on this day an executive decision was taken to attempt to eliminate the Iranian president, with four of the permanent members voting in favour and China abstaining. Sources close to the Shia community in London have also reported increased activity within the Iranian dissident community on the evening of Monday 23rd January, the day preceeding the attack. There are worries about reprisals, but sources from within Britain have voiced the opinion that as this was a UN sponsored operation, albeit failed, they would not bear the responsibilites either within their civilian population, or as attacks upon their soldiers in the Levant.

I`d think Britain would do a better job.
The explosion took place well away from where the Iranian pres was supposed to speak.

I believe that incident was more likely to be an internal political event. Reporting news agency sometimes like to make it look controversial to make the reporting 'news worthy'.
