This book was very hard to find because every bookstore but one in our corner of Wisconsin claimed that they had sold out. I bought the second to last copy at the one store still having any copies at all. I finished the book in one evening.
"Unfit for Command" is very well documented . If Kerry acted in the manner that is portrayed by his 200+ "band of brothers" in this book, I would not want him as my friend, much less my President. |

So, Pah, did you read the book or not? I believe truth is elusive, but much better discerned when one tries to "read" both sides of an issue. As I wrote before, this book is well documented. The men quoted in the book are Kerry's superiors and Kerry's fellow swiftees.
I wonder if you call "Fahrenheit 9/11" muckraking also? |

Pah, you can comment on anything, of course. However, some of the criticisms of this book ARE answered IN the book. Especially the one that claims Kerry is NOT criticized by men on his own boat. FALSE! Quotes in this book attest to the fact that Kerry was unliked by his own men because he does not exhibit qualities that fighting men value among comrades. During the war, he would make his boat "split and run" when the activity became very dangerous. Is this the trait of a war hero? After the war, he said the men he fought with acted like Genghis Khan - committing one atrocity after another against the Vietnamese. Man after man say this is a lie. And if it were true, Kerry should have reported that while he was in Vietnam instead of waiting until he was in safe ground in the US. His fellow swift boat veterans, those actually in his boat and those close by, have resented his comments about them for 30+ years. No one would listen to them before, because it just didn't matter enough. NOW - even when President Bush has condemned all "negative ads" - they will continue to run their ads against Kerry because they feel they owe this to the American public. A man like Kerry who bases much of his campaign on being a war hero - but who in reality is anything but a hero - a man who denegrated true herosim when he came back from the war - should not be the Commander in Chief of our great nation. Quote:
About his superiors: At present, some of Kerry's superiors who signed off on his medals, regret the fact that they did not investigate further before agreeing that Kerry should get the medals. Kerry knew the system. Kerry, in fact, wrote some of his own recommendations for medals. Kerry was an officer in the US Navy....officers tend to believe officers. |
