Why would North Korea feel like we would attack her without provocation? It's not like we have ever done so before (arguably Iraq). Don't be fooled, Kim is a crazy man and he wants to unify Korea more than he cares about what the US thinks. He also believes that any action against his country would prompt China to come to his rescue. IMHO

If you studied unbias historical account, US was provoked into war only ONCE, ie WWII by the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbour (even that, there are conspiracy theorists that claim that US lured Japan into bombing Pearl Harbour ). Out of the hundreds of war US involved herself, none are provoked by the other party. Pre-emptive war is the way US operated.

After WWII the way US operated was to start war anywhere and every where else at all other countries so that the mother land can be free from war. That changed in Sept/11. But then the enemy is not a COUNTRY that US can target to annihilate or set revenge on. Hence US has to create the shadow enemy of "TERRORISM" to fight with. Pretty sad.
